Third Stage

We are almost done with the third stage of our project. The last two weeks have been intense as we have been working on composing over twenty boxes with scrap wood pieces and our found objects. Our friends from 1080 HD Media Productions have been filming and photographing our progress. Looking forward to sharing our work as an installation at Huntington Bank on 50 Monroe Ave in Grand Rapids from September 23 - October 10.

Photos to Progress Update

Well...here are the photos as mentioned in the previous post. Thanks for the hint, Pierre!

ARRANGING COMPOSITIONS...

THE STUDIO FLOOR

The pieces of wood were organized neatly in various containers. But, it was easier to dump them out on the floor. Okay, kids.....Don't try this at home. Unless, of course your moms and dads allow you to make messes and leave them.

Video Promotion

Here is our new video promotion by our friends at 1080 HD Media. It was fun being interviewed and we are glad we can share even more of our ArtPrize experience with you.

Progress Update

Even though I don't have a lot of pictures to show it, Abbey and I have been moving along steadily on the project. On Tuesday we bored holes into the top and bottom of each wooden box to prepare them for installation. Also, yesterday we began to arrange the compositions that will appear inside each box. More to come (hopefully with more pictures!)

Assembling Boxes

We are using old lumber from around the city to create our boxes that will house up to 30 separate assemblages containing pieces and parts from old houses, buildings, automobiles, and even miniature paintings. This past weekend, we were able to design and construct most of the basic box frames for our ArtPrize sculpture. Our friend, Bob, has been a tremendous help by giving us great advice and allowing the use of his shop.

Pierre and I have been discussing the idea of suspending all of these boxes with rope or string. It is always interesting and fun, however, to notice different things during a process. This past weekend has been no exception. In fact, we couldn't help but admire the way the boxes were stacking on top of each other as they were waiting for glue and nails. By staying open to new possibilities as the work is created, we might find an even more exciting way to install and exhibit our entry while maintaining the essence of our original idea.

Studio Glimpse

We worked in the studio today to remove nails out of the found wood materials we've gathered so far. The editing process has already begun. Since some of the nails are really difficult to take out, we had to ask ourselves how far to take it. We will use as much as we can! Photos will be posted tomorrow.

Networking

A blog and a Gmail address just simply aren't enough to stay connected these days. I mean, it is 2009 after all. Which is why I thought it would be a good idea to create a Flickr account where we can stream all of the photos that don't make it onto the blog. Just search for lostandfoundproject on Flickr under "People."

I should also mention our twitter account, and of course you can e-mail us at: lostfoundproject@gmail.com, as well as joining our Facebook group under "The Lost and Found Project."
